Penn State favored in 11 of 12 games by ESPN; Lions land in recruiting target's top 7, and more

Today's Penn State football news headlines feature a game-by-game season projection and a spot in a recruiting target's top schools.

ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) has game-by-game win probabilities listed, and Penn State projects as an early favorite in 11 of 12 games. The only exception is a Nov. 3 road trip to Michigan, which has a 58.2 percent chance of winning the game at Michigan Stadium. The Lions are a 51.4 percent favorite to beat Ohio State at home on Sept. 29 in a key early-season showdown.

 

Four-star Patriot (Va.) guard Jakai Moore released his top seven schools Monday afternoon and included Penn State in a group that also included Clemson, Miami, North Carolina, Ohio State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. The Lions remain the leader in Moore's 247Sports Crystal Ball with eight of nine predictions.
