Penn State freshmen receive jersey numbers, and all four check in with strong height and weight figures
Penn State football's quartet of summer semester one arrivals were assigned jersey numbers on Monday, the day they started classes at University Park.
Here's the breakdown:
#17 - QB Will Levis
#87 - TE Pat Freiermuth
#88 - DT Judge Culpepper
#93 - DT P.J. Mustipher
Culpepper checked in at 6-foot-4, 275 pounds meaning he will be close to game ready at defensive tackle from a size perspective should he be needed this fall, while Mustipher already looks to be there while being listed at 6-foot-4, 300 pounds. It's a safe bet that one if not both suit up and receive snaps this fall.
As for Levis, he checks in for the first time at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, while Freiermuth, who could also potentially crack his position's rotation as a true freshmen, is listed at 6-foot-4, 250 pounds, which is an inch taller and five pounds heavier than expected starter Danny Dalton.
"Some of them were able to do it because school was out and some of them were able to do it because they talked to their high schools and were strong enough students that the high schools worked with them," Franklin said of the group's arrival.
"They're going to get another six weeks of training on our campus."
The rest of Penn State's signing Class of 2018 will arrive at the end of June.
